That's exactly what I do. :) I use handmade "bias tape" a lot for my sewing projects either for neck binding or casings. When I'm using it on a curve, yes, it needs to be on the bias, otherwise it can be cut straight.
I love the look of handmade bias tape, but sometimes I cheat and buy the premade stuff for skirts. I use the continuous bias tape method but it's still time consuming to make my own. I've been thinking about buying one of those bias tape makers, but have read mixed reviews.
